No chance for lime and corrosion

gwk mould cleaning station moldclean mc 1 – premiere at the K 2013

On the occasion of the K 2013 gwk Gesellschaft Wärme Kältetechnik mbH, Kierspe presents its latest developments in the range of cleaning systems for limed-up temperature control and cooling channels.

Lime and corrosion are hidden cost factors. Inevitably, these two “enemies of temperature control channels” prolong the cooling time, reduce the process safety and have a negative influence on the parts’ quality. The problem occurs insidiously in each plastic processing company, because lime and corrosion gradually build an insulation layer in the cooling channels and are thus responsible for a deteriorating heat transfer. Often the problem is not recognized until the demanded parts’ quality cannot be achieved any longer or if the complete system breaks down.

gwk takes action against these avoidable problems by means of the gwk moldclean unit. The effect of cleaning the cooling channels of an injection mould is a reduction of cooling time up to 40 % (in individual cases even more), depending on the amount of deposits.

The moldclean unit is designed to clean limed up cooling channels in injection moulds and heat exchanging systems. A pH-value controlled and monitored cleaning process as well as the documentation of the flow rate increase give proof of the success.

The efficient cleaning unit for temperature control channels and heat exchangers was further developed in cooperation with end users. Now the newest version is presented for the first time. The redesigned model is available in two versions with new optional extensions. In addition to a low-cost entry-level model a very economic solution with two containers is offered which requires less cleaning agent. This reduces the cleaning cycle by up to 50 %. The switch-over between the cleaning cycles can alternatively be made by automatic ball valves. The cleaning process can be accelerated by jet cleaning with compressed air in order to further reduce the chemical consumption.

At the K 2013 a moldclean unit that is equipped with all options is presented to the public for the first time.
